The Little Rose

Mallika M Bandara
(19.06.2007)

How precious was it to waiting for that day?
How wonderful that is to think again and again!
How am I rich and worthy to be honored?
At the moment I see your face
I hold you on my arms like a diadem
Like a garland of pink rose buds–
I felt that I’ve been enthroned!

When, I went through the dusty desert
Fighting with the winds
That were blowing against my way
Struggling to run away from the eminent fate
Cannot measure cannot estimate
The pain and the tiredness
But I was running
How I’ve defeated by my opponents
I tried every fall to get up
and stand up on my foot
that‘s for your sake.
I forgave and forgot my enemies’for your sake.
Though it is so hard, so harsh
though I’ve made-up my mind
to live and to smile ‘cos for your sake

How can I cry at the tenderness of your eyes?
How can I be rude, merciless before your lovely face?
I couldn’t see the disparity between heaven and hell
You are my only one hope and crowned will
You’ve been my strong shield.
You’ve been my little star.
Way through the darken valley of death,
You are the only brighter shining hope

I’ve anchored your precious smile
To never die myself and to never leave you
When I’m crying, when I’m sighing,
sobbing for peace of heart
You’ve been my comfor,
Like a stronghold
You are the leading star and my little angel.

You led me to a wonderland.
Only you, yes, my little son,
Only you who reasoned my pain.
When you wiped away my tears
Your little fingers were softer and cooler
 than anything in this world.
Your tender cheek touched,
not only my cheek and also,
the inner depth of my heart and my soul.

(celebration of the birthday of my eldest son - 2007).

Thorny Feelings!

The Nothriedam Cathedral has been caught by the fire; people all over the world find comfort when they heard the survival of the crown of Jesus has recovered by the fire.

According to the Bible the crucifixion of Jesus has recorded in the book of Mathew 27:27 - 28, the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him and then “twisted together a crown of thorns and set it in his head.”

It has recorded in the book of Mark 15; 17-18  as – “They put a purple robe on him, “then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him”.
The crown made out of prickly plant (the Greek word means simply “briers”  which have usually woody and thorn or prickly stem, there are many in Palestine).  The crown has made out of a twisted prickly plant for a purpose of mocking.
In the middle of such chaotic situation and uproar the crowd would not be able to make a wooden or iron or gold crown for a criminal who was condemned to death. Possibly, the crown that placed in the Notriedam Cathedral might be a gold or a kind metal crown painted with gold to symbolise the 'thorny crown".

One of the Indian spiritual leaders Bhagawan Shri  Rajneesh, also called OSHO or Acharya Rajneesh, who preached an extensive doctrine of Eastern mysticism, individual devotion, and sexual freedom, states that the religion is just a symbol.
Christ is the content, Christianity is just a word, Buddha is the content, the Dhammapada is a word, Krishna is the content, and the Geeta is nothing but a trap. If you talk about Christ it is because of the churches, the theology, the Bible, the words.

But for human beings the container becomes much important, the vehicle becomes much too important, the body becomes much too important. And then you are blind. The vehicle was just to give you the message, receive the message and forget the vehicle. The messenger was just to give you the message, receive the message and forget the messenger. Thank him and don’t carry him in your head.

People carry the net for many lives without realizing that it is just a net, a trap, as of one goes on carrying a latter.

Religion insists to believe their concepts and symbols. Devotees believe the word of religious leaders as the reality. Repetition of words encourages believing the unbelievable things which has come from the institutional religious structure. Every human being is roaming between life and death because of the concept of death is the scariest entity that cannot be understood. They believe and practice the rituals of religion to get rid of the fear of death. Largely, faith language and religious symbols plays a significance role in the heart of the believers than the message of the messenger. Therefore, they are unable to perceive the real meaning of the state of “salvation” or “nirvana”.
